"PFEW was an amazing week for me. I learned a lot about what it meant to be a "businessperson", gained visibility into my own strengths and weaknesses, and became very excited to head to college as soon as possible. I grew up in Bethlehem, PA and attended PFEW in 1995. I was elected CEO of my company, which was exciting as I had not pursued much leadership responsibility in high school. I had always been opinionated, but this was a great opportunity to attempt to lead a group. I learned how hard that was as we had one member of our team who was vocally unhappy with how we approached the competition. The team worked through these issues and though I cannot remember our product, I do know that we won the shareholder's presentation portion of the competition.
Prior to going to PFEW, I did not have a real sense of what business jobs entailed and with what issues businesspeople struggled. My father was a podiatrist and most of my friend's parents did not really talk to me about their work experience. PFEW opened my eyes to the fact that I definitely wanted to work in some aspect of business. I went on to attend Hamilton College and then joined Kaiser Associates, a Washington DC strategy consulting firm. Consulting allowed me to put off the decision of what I wanted my career to be and continue to deal with a wide range of business issues. I then decided to go back to school and get my MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Once there, I was certain that I wanted to go into real estate. I really like the way buildings look and function. And I knew that my skill set was matched well for the quantitative nature of investment analysis.
For the last two years, I have been a Vice President of Development at the Trump Organization. I am responsible for sourcing, analyzing, and negotiating new real estate deals for Donald Trump's private company. It has been a great experience and I have been able to travel to more than 10 countries including places like India, Thailand, St. Lucia, and Azerbaijan. I evaluate investments and partnerships in projects as diverse as luxury resorts in the Caribbean, Class A Manhattan office buildings, and residential developments in Istanbul. I honestly can say that PFEW was a formative week of my life and one that had an impact on my career path."
