2021 was my first year volunteering as a Company Advisor after being introduced to the program by someone who had attended as a student and then later became a volunteer with PFEW. I was initially nervous to be a Company Advisor to a class full of students who would look to me for guidance, serving alongside Company Advisors who had been volunteering for over 20 years. However, this feeling quickly went away after the first day as everyone made me feel like I was part of the PFEW family.
What PFEW offers to high school students is an amazing opportunity. To network with their peers, make realistic business decisions, and to foster creativity by creating and marketing a product of their choosing. All of this is fostered by leaders in the community who have had successful careers.
I would highly encourage anyone thinking about volunteering to reach out to any of the past volunteers, staff, or past participants of PFEW. After you experience the passion and enthusiasm from people involved and witness the impact this program has had on the thousands of lives, you will be rushing to sign up to participate in such a truly rewarding program.
