After attending PFEW as a student in 2011, I knew the program had changed my life, but I never imagined the extent to which it would impact me both professionally and personally. I certainly did not expect that a decade later, volunteering as company advisor would be an annual highlight.
Does PFEW excellently educate high schoolers about the world of business? Yes. After going through the program, did I end up becoming an accountant? Also yes. But PFEW isn't just a business camp—it's a chance for students from all backgrounds to meet new people, step out of their comfort zones, develop confidence, and provide a first glimpse at what life beyond their high school labels could look like. In an increasingly virtual world, these opportunities are more important now than ever. Company advisors get a front row seat to this amazing transformation in the youth of PA and the chance to give back to the community.
So, to all of my fellow alum who drove out of Williamsport one balmy July morning excitedly telling your parents about the amazing week you had, wishing you could do it all over again—you can! We'd love to see you back there to continue the magic of PFEW for the next generation.
